Crazy Ideas: Gold Vending Machine

Recently in Dubai a vending machine that dispenses pure gold was installed.  Currently only the local Durham currency is accepted but plans to fit the machine to accept credit cards are in the works.  The machine dispenses many different items, everything from coins to bars.  The machine itself is coated in a thin layer of gold.  All the gold comes from Germany, where the machines were first introduced. Soon the hotel in Dubai (”Emirates Palace”) will have a custom gold coin with their logo imprinted on it. 

I don’t know about the rest of you out there but I would love to have a gold coin with something cool imprinted on it to sit and collect dust on my shelf.  While it may be a crazy idea, so far it seems to have paid off with quite a bit of interest in it.  And seeing as it is in a “rich people” hotel, I’m sure there will be interest for quite some time to come.
