It’s official…
It is official, Iran has fired up the nuclear reactor today. The town of Bushehr is the home of Iran’s first nuclear reactor.
The nuclear reactor had been previously delayed and has become the center of a world wide debate. While Iran claims that they have no ill intentions and only want to use the reactor for peaceful purposes, it is easy to understand why other countries do not doubtlessly believe them.
Russia has a huge part in all of this. The reactor is Russian built. Russia has also pledged to keep a close eye on operations. They will also control the supply of all nuclear fuel. A lot of people don’t like any scenario that involves Iran and nuclear power. However, this compromise takes the majority of uranium enrichment, by Iran, out of the equation.
The world might be making a huge mistake right now, but everyone involved has made huge compromises to see it through. Not only has Russia promised to make sure Iran does nothing they are not supposed to, but this is big business for them. I believe they are capable of keeping their promise and I believe it will be profitable for them to do so. Whether they live up to it or not…only time will tell.
