Israel vs Palestine: Who Do You Support?

As a university student, there is barely a wall on campus I can walk past without seeing a poster telling me to vote for something, or support something else. But surely there are some issues which must escape this side-choosing. Whilst it is more than acceptable to put up a banner asking people to vote for you as Head of Activities, surely a poster telling you to show your solidarity and stand up against the genocide in Gaza is not right. For to choose to put up a poster on the subject of the war in the Middle East, and then to ignore Israeli civilians dying seems to show an apathy that Israeli civillians are dying. In the same way, attending a pro-Israel rally, whilst not at the same time condoning attacks on the people of Gaza, is also showing a distinct lack of care for regular citizens who are dying. This shows a huge amount of hypocrisy, or even worse, a preference for one people over another.

When Wrestlemania 25 comes into Texas, I am still unsure as to who I will support. Will it be the speed and heart of Shawn Michaels, or the ruthlessness and sheer dominance of The Undertaker? I, for one, cannot decide. But at least I can understand those who can. But to ask me to choose who I want to win a war between two governments who resort to attacking civilians, this is impossible. So please, do not protest against Qassam rockets being fired almost daily into Israel, do not protest against Israel attacking schools with only alleged Hamas presence in them. Just protest against a war, which has ruined families for centuries. Stopping only one nation would leave a huge injustice; both must be stopped. The war must be stopped.
