Stop the Illegal and Brutal Hamas Occupation of Gaza

Many naive westerners including former US President Jimmy Carter cry for the Hamas terrorist group. However, the truth is that Hamas is in no position to attack Israel’s treatment toward the Palestinians, considering the fact that Hamas is far more brutal to the Palestinians.

Asma al-Ghoul, a female journalist in Gaza, got in trouble by Hamas for not being veiled. Hamas, which guys like Jimmy Carter support, harassed her and arrested her. They “accused” her of laughing out loud. The guys who harassed her were from the Hamas Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, which Hamas is too afraid to admit that it exists out of fear that it would be used as more evidence for the fact that it is the Fundamentalist organization that it is. Hamas beat her and her male friends. Hamas asked her whether they were related to her or not.

Hamas terrorists followed her to a nearby friend’s house and wanted to take away her laptop. Israel always allowed Palestinians to criticize her on a daily basis. In fact, the media’s coverage of Palestinians focus on allegations made by Palestinians about Israel’s “occupation”. However, Israel doesn’t send anybody after them and rightly so. Under Israeli rule, Palestinians were free to criticize Israel all they want. But that is not true with Hamas. At least many people in Gaza are too afraid of speaking out against Hamas. In Gaza, speaking out against Hamas is a really big gamble on safety. The Washington Times reported,”Newspapers are banned, critical television talk shows were pulled from the air, and a new Hamas decree prohibits demonstrations and even outdoor weddings without approval”.

Al-Ghoul received death threats. She said,“People are afraid to speak out. But we must speak out in order to stop this. We fear that the government will banish those who speak. . . . You know, when my mother was my age she used to wear short skirts and no hijab. I do not wear hijab. But now, the women cover everything, even their faces. I am a secular Muslim. Theoretically, I believe that Islam and secular values can be compatible. The government has attached themselves to the most extreme facets of Islam, not to Islam as it has been practiced in the past. These morality police think they are god.” 

In fact, there was a youtube video by an Arab who is sick and tired of all this Hamas propaganda. It shows footage made by Palestinians themselves. One of them was Hamas terrorists attacking people for singing songs in a wedding.

In fact, Hamas also persecutes and harasses Christians. When Christians are attacked and it gets the attention of the media, Hamas pretends to condemn it. One case was with Rami Ayyad, manager of the only Christian book store in Gaza. He was killed in cold blood. When the media reported on it, Hamas pretended to condemn it. Ihab Ghisson, spokesman for the Hamas Interior Ministry, said,”This despicable crime won’t pass without punishment of the perpetrators. We will pursue all those involved in this case and make sure that they are severely punished.” However, it turns out that the ringleader of Ayyad’s murder was a senior Hamas security official. Unlike Israel, which took territories including Gaza in a defensive war from countries that sought to eliminate Israel, Hamas took Gaza over from a coup. Don’t give me this democratically-elected BS. Hitler was also democratically-elected. Under Israeli rule, Palestinians could harshly criticize Israel all they want. A lot of the time, Israel even allowed anti-Jewish incitement in the territories.

In 2005, before Hamas took over Gaza, Ziad Zaranda, a Gazan whose fiancée was killed by Hamas, said,”Hamas is worse than Israel, worse than Sharon”. His wife was killed because a Hamas operative saw him and his wife walk by the sea. The Hamas operative thought that was immoral and killed her.

How can the conflict be for Palestinian rights when you see that Palestinian terrorists groups including Hamas treat their people far worse than Israel treats them? If Hamas is fighting for Palestinian rights, then the rights they’re fighting for is the right for them to impose a brutal radical Islamic Taliban-like dictatorship that is incomparably worse than Israeli rule. In fact, the two are just incomparable. Israel seeks to defend itself from terrorists. Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields in order to give Israel bad PR if it defends itself from terrorism because Palestinian civilians are accidentally killed. Guys like Carter fall for the Hamas BS.

Hamas also steals humanitarian aid from the people of Gaza. The Palestine press news agency reported that:

The reliable local sources in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas militia outside the law, the decision of the supreme political leadership has ordered the owners of the bakeries in the towns and camps for the sector to prevent the sale of bread to the citizens and the closure of sections of Mkhabzhm, in a continuation of the scheme aimed to deepen the the humanitarian crisis experienced by the Gaza Strip in order to achieve narrow partisan gains. 

The sources, a number of bakery owners in the sector as saying, “they had received orders from before the closure of the Hamas militia Mkhabzhm immediately and prevent the sale of bread to the citizens, but have offered themselves to the oppression and reprisals by those militias in the absence comply with its orders.” 

The bakery owners, that “stocks of the material sufficient to meet the exact needs of the population of the Gaza Strip of bread for a whole month and more,” pointing out that they are able to provide this essential commodity for the Palestinian people throughout the duration of the orders in the Hamas militia, which prevented them from doing so. “

In February 2009, Hamas raided a UN office and stole the humanitarian aid. The UN condemned the action. The media, which was an echo chamber of Hamas, even had some of their outlets report on Hamas stealing humanitarian aid. It was largely forgotten. Hamas still gets away with stealing humanitarian aid. The myth of Israel causing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to flourish, because of the Hamas propaganda repeated by the media and guys like the Hamas apologist Jimmy Carter. Hamas helps its backers in Iran suppress the pro-democracy demonstrations in Iran.

Though Hamas is an anti-Semitic organization, it also has Palestinian and Iranian blood on its hands. It also is brutal toward Muslims; both Iranians and Palestinians alike. In fact, the international community including Israel, America and the EU [European Union] made it clear that if Hamas accepts the three preconditions, then the boycott toward the Hamas government ends and then Israel will engage in negations with Hamas. Hamas said no to the three preconditions. The three preconditions are to recognize Israel’s right to exist, denounce terrorism and honor previous agreements, the last of which states the basic principles of land for peace. Hamas, instead of building a civil state for their own people, focuses instead on eliminating Israel. Palestinian rejectionist groups including Hamas are more focused on eliminating Israel than on helping the Palestinian people and don’t even care about them. And Hamas even oppresses its own people in Gaza. The Hamas control of Gaza is the real brutal and illegal occupation. Same is true about Jordanian and Egyptian rule of the territories from 1949-1967. Jordan and Egypt won the land from the war of extermination against Israel. They were taking part in the terrorist invasion of Israel. As I said, Israel won them from a defensive war. The international community decided that Israel would govern the territories until the fate of them is negotiated with a peace partner. That was the basis of UN resolution 242, which was approved unanimously by the UN Security Council a little while after Israel’s victory in the 1967 Six day war.

The Israeli occupation is a myth. Israel holding on to the territories to have secure boundaries and to protect its citizens from terror attacks was not an occupation nor was it brutal or illegal. But the Hamas control of Gaza is the real brutal and illegal occupation. Not only does Hamas indoctrinates its own people to kill Jews and uses them as human shields, but Hamas also imposes brutal policies toward its own people. They arrest and kill people they don’t like. Gaza is an occupied territory right now because it’s controlled by Hamas.
