The Women Body Guards of Gaddaffi-the Dictator of Libya

Gaddaffi the eternal dictator of Libya is in trouble.Having ruled for 42 years he is faced with an uprising of the masses in his country.He thus is in some trouble. But it has now come to the fore that the Libyan dictator is guarded by a platoon of women guards. Why did Gaddafi go in for women guards ? there is also the inevitable question as to how good are these guards.

Gaddaffi on his recent visits abroad to Italy and France was accompanied by these women soldiers. They certainly looked chic in their blue uniforms. Gaddaffi himself aged 69 was relishing these women guards around him as he exhorted young Italian girls to convert to Islam.

The women guards are hand picked by the Libyan dictator and trained in unarmed combat and fire arms at the academy in Libya.  The guards also wear makeup, lipstick, rouge and perfumes. They are also decked in high heels and carry guns with aplomb. Surely they are an eyeful and could warm the heart of any cockerel. The word is around that the girls are all virgins, but this is one aspect of these guards that cannot be vouchsafed.

The guards do not wear the Burkha or the Chaddar as enjoined in Islam and go against the tenets of orthodox Muslim thought. But Gaddaffii has always been a  rebel and justifies his actions. He feels women need to be trained to save themselves from predaters .

In 1998 there was an assassination attempt on Gaddaffi. It is on record that these women guards saved him.One died and 7 were injured.The girl guard who died laila was a favorite of Gaddaffi and she flung herself as a human shield for gaddaffi and took the bullets so that her leader survived. It is rumored that Gaddaffi certainly has a relationship as well with his guards. But the point is that the guards are motivated and they  have they are ready to die for the leader.

Gaddaffi’s women guards will have a lot to do now with  agitations surfacing against him all over Libya. I for one will wish them all the best.
