The Inspirational Michelle Obama

During her recent visit to the UK, Michelle Obama visited a South London school. The pupils did not  know anything about her visit in advance, it was a very well kept secret, and when her identity was revealed, she was greeted very enthusiastically with whoops and cheers.

She made a very moving speech to them, explaining that anyone can achieve, no matter what your class or colour is, nor whether you come from a poor family or a rich one. She said that although she was raised in a loving family, she lived on the poorer side of the town, and her parents were not rich.

She emphasised that determination and the ability to work hard will get you to your goals in life, and she also told these teenagers ,who were listening to her with rapt attention, that they touched her heart.  Being married to the first black president,  is proof of the way she has got on in her life, as behind every good man there is a strong woman, and Michelle certainly gives the impression of being that.

How nice for these girls to meet a positive role model who is warm and caring. She is the mother of 2 girls herself , and has been brought up with true family values. What a pleasant change from the sort of idols teenagers seem to put on a pedestal these days, and who knows why?

Our celebrity magazines are full of stick thin” celebrities ” often with silicone implants, who regularly fall out of clubs drunk. They often sport tattoos, and some even   have needle marks in their arms because they are drug addicts.

How nice that a decent and normal woman has had the chance to inspire them. Let’s hope that they feel the same determination that she did ,to better their lives, as these teenagers are our future. With the credit crunch eating away at our lives, we all need a positive future.
