Rio beats Chicago The President drops the ball.

Once again people are starting to talk about the Olympics, and the reason seems to be because of the fact that Rio has won the right to host the 2016 Olympic games.

I am happy with the decision of the International Olympic committee or OIC, I think that I am probably one of the few that thinks this is for the best. In my opinion, the United States has enough on its plate without having to fork out all the money it takes to host the Olympic games. Let us get past the war and terrorist activity not to mention the economy before we attempt something even close to the Olympics. The cost of any Olympic game as is well known is astronomical and we do not need the problems with that and the security issues we would have to face.

President Obama it has been said even made an appearance before the OIC to plead his case for Chicago to host the Olympics in 2016. The president must not have inspired the OIC very much because his choice for the Olympics came in as an embarrassing last place. It appears that President Obama’s lack of experience is starting to show, and one has to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Obama’s political power, considering he has shown that he is not as powerful or persuasive as he had once appeared.

The Olympic calender seems to be full for some time now that the 2016 Olympics are spoken for by Rio. The next ones will be in Vancouver in the year 2010, followed by London in the year 2012, then in Sochi in 2014. It looks like we will not have another chance until 2018, by then maybe this county will recover enough to be able to hold a successful Olympics.

Under normal circumstances I would be in favor of the United States hosting the summer games but I think that we have enough other high cost things on our plate at this time.
