Chicago Teenager Beaten to Death

A Chicago public school teenager who was an honored student, beaten to death on his way home from school. The incident was captured on video camera which clearly shows that the student is beaten by the other teenagers with baseball bats, wooden boards and sticks. At one point several students picked up the boards and began swinging wildly. The kids became very aggressive and were hopping over cars and smashing them. It appears the they didn’t have a specific target but rather a random act. 16 years old honor student named Derrion, was knocked down, punched, kicked and beaten badly. He later died of his injuries in the hospital. His parents are in shock and believe that he became the target because he refused to join a high school gang. Police is searching for suspects by identifying the people in the video tape but so far no arrests have been made. They believe that his death was random act and he simply was in a wrong place at the wrong time.

This act of violence was horrible and it will take some time to figure out the who were the suspects and why others didn’t interfere to stop this incident to happen on the first place which is a moral obligation of every human being. Where was the Chicago police when they were needed. It is believed that this incident was occurred because of the dismantling of a housing project in the area and some students were brought to the Finger high school which already had gang problems. These types of incidents are not new in the area and were going on there for some time. The incident could have been avoided and the innocent live could have been saved if Chicago public school had some kind of safety plan in place. Authorities are still investigating and haven’t released any statements yet.
