A chimpanzee attacks a 55 year-old woman and sends her to the hospital in critical condition.

A 14 year old Chimpanzee named Travis attacked a 55 year old woman named Carla Nash. Sandra Harold is Travis’s owner. Travis was sick with Lyme’s disease and Sandra gave Travis medication in tea to help him. Travis then went berserk and ran out of the house. Carla was called over by Sandra to help get him back inside. Travis then jumped onto and mauled Carla almost as soon as she got out of her car. Sandra quickly ran back into the kitchen to call 911. When she came back out she saw that Travis ripped Carla’s face off. Sandra began stabbing Travis with a knife she got while she called 911. She stabbed Travis about 15 times and it only made him more hostile. While Sandra was on the phone with 911 she continually told the operator “hurry up” and “shoot him”. Sandra locked herself in the car but did not feel safe because she thought that Travis would just rip the door off. Travis left Carla lying there and was walking around the house. Police soon arrived and began shooting at Travis. Travis started running at the officers and tried to attack them, forcing them to retreat back to there vehicles.

The police did shoot Travis but it took a few shots to take him down. After taking a barrage of bullets, Travis retreated back into the house and into his bedroom where he died. Carla was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition. She was injured mostly in her face and hands. Experts believe that the attack was triggered by the medication in Travis’s tea and also the Lyme’s disease. Sandra can possibly be charged with criminal charges because she was letting a medicated, 200 pound chimp run around with other people around but no charges ( to my knowledge) were made.
