A one-month-old boy was suffocated in a freak incident.

Michael Baldwin, a reporter who hosts Diverse Long Island on News 12, was the proudest dad in the world. His one-month-old son (also called Michael), was the light of his life. But that joy turned to tragedy last week.

Michael was called into work at short notice, and turned to good friend Teresa Coffey (39), who had been longing to babysit Michael Jnr. But at some point during her babysitting shift, Teresa dropped dead. The tragedy was doubled when she fell onto baby Michael, smothering him to death.

When Michael Snr. returned home from work, he was horrified to find Teresa unconscious (or so he believed), and that Michael was missing. It was only after an exhaustive search and trying to revive Teresa did he realise that not only was she dead, but his son was beneath her.

Michael Jnr. was born on the 1st August, but remained in hospital until the 18th due to a medical condition.
