On Sunday night, a nighttime explosion rattled homes close to the Sunoco Oil Refinery.
On Sunday night, a fireball lit up the sky from the blast of the Sunoco Oil Refinery. The explosion felt seismic for some people, hovever no injuries are reported. Now, authorities are trying to determine the cause of the explosion. An hour before, the company reported that the air quality was safe and that there were no flunctuations in any of the systems at the plant. The explosion occured at the refinery’s ethylene complex. Ethylene is a feed stock that is used most often for the production of plastics. Adjacent to the ethylene complex, there was a Sunoco chemical plant which produced polypropylene, a flamable chemical, however, the chemical plant was not effected by the explosion. Many eyewitnesses have said in interviews that the explosion rocked the foundations of their homes and that they have never been so terrified. Also many people are outraged that this happened so close to their homes.
