793 Bloods are one of the largest gangs in the United States. In a coordinated effort amongst law enforcement officers, the gang in being taken down in a major way.

The New York gang known as The 793 Bloods was formed in January 2007, a gang made up from an even older gang known as the 93 Bloods. The Bloods are one of the largest gangs in the United States.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested a total of 23 members of the 793 Bloods starting on January 9, 2008. Most of the men and women that were arrested were arrested on the following charges:

  • Triggerlock: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Armed Robbery
  • Interference with Commerce with threat of Violence
  • Drug Conspiracy:  Attempt and Conspiracy to distribute
  • Crack Distribution: Distribute of a controlled substance

There were also 16 previous arrests on similar charges from members of the same gang from various arrest throughout 2007. In addition to the current arrest an investigation has been going since 2006, before the 793 Bloods were even officially known as the 793 Bloods.

The most current arrests that occurred on January 9 were orchestrated by more than 75 FBI Agents and Police Officers. The Task Force consists of the following agencies:

  • U.S. Attorney’s Office
  • Newark Police Department
  • Essex County Sheriff’s Office
  • East Orange Police Department
  • Essex County Department of Corrections
  • Irvington Police Department
  • Hudson County Sheriff’s Office
  • Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office
  • Cranford Police Department
  • New Jersey State Police
  • New Jersey Department of Probation and Parole

This gang was targeted by sharp law enforcement officers made up of agents, officers and prosecutors that were assigned to the Safe Streets Task Force to take back our streets from this gang and given it back to the community.
