A former Santa Rosa lieutenant has been sentenced to a further two life sentences against minors during his time as an officer.

A former police lieutenant from Santa Rosa sheriff’s office has just been sentenced to two life sentences for sexual battery of a child.

John Tomlinson (48) was convicted last Tuesday of sexual battery and abuse against a minor. His victims aged 9 and 10 at the time of the assaults, were from completely unrelated parts of the same town, but both corroborated each others stories with painful accuracy.

It is thought that Tomlinson used his respected position as a means to keep the victims quite for so long.

Interestingly the stories came to light after Tomlinson was convicted for life for 120 counts of sexually related violence against another girl, meaning that the former law-man will ultimately live out the remainder of his life behind prison walls.

Tomlinson who served more than 20 years as an officer was said to be an exemplary member of the force, and the news of his conduct has shocked many of his friends and colleagues, who simply could not put the actions with the individual. Yet despite this claim, it has been revealed that complaints were made to the Sheriffs office as early as 1998/1999 after a girl reported that he had entered her room during the night and rubbed her private areas (she too was aged just 9) but unlike the other victims, the abuse went on for several years, and would often occur up between 2-3 times a week throughout the entire time of the assaults (approximately 4-5 years).  The office has not commented on this matter as of yet.
