The latest news on teen Lauryn Last of Port Angeles, WA, charged with drowning her infant son in the toilet then discarding the body in the trash.

16 year-old Lauryn Louise Last was recently charged as an adult for first-degree murder in the alleged killing of her infant son, occurring on or about December 30, shortly after giving birth. Authorities accuse Ms. Last drowning the child in a toilet in her Port Angeles, WA home, where she lives with her father, Ronald Eugene Last, Jr. Charges say that the teen disposed of the infant’s body in a trash dump outside Tacoma.

The Lasts are newcomers to Port Angeles, residing there for the past several months. Ronald Last was cited on a misdemeanor charge for concealing the birth. He is also charged for the felonies of possessing a firearm and methamphetamine. Mr. Last has had a long history with the law, and his court record reaches back to 1985.

Information is not yet available on how the police investigation led to a search through 60 tons of garbage a Tacoma area dump or how they came to connect the infant’s death with Ms. Last. Paternity testing has been ordered, but the results will not be available for a month or more.

Goth MySpace Page

Lauryn has a MySpace page with many friends and there is a thread of darkness running through the posts. The site shows two “Goth” young women, wearing black and bearing dark expressions. The background is a shadowy black and white forest, prominently displaying this quote: “The boundaries which divide life from death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where one ends, and the other begins?” The quote has become poignant with recent events. One shudders to see that the most recent login entry was on January 1, just two days after the slaying. Lauryn described her mood as “chill”, very calm for someone who just murdered an infant and threw the body in the trash.

Ms. Last is clearly a marijuana enthusiast based on her photobucket.com choices. Another website shows a photo of Lauryn smoking what appears to be a marijuana pipe.

$500,000 Bail

Attorney Suzanne Hayden has been assigned to defend Ms. Last. Her bail is $500,000. The arraignment will take place on Friday. If convicted, Ms. Last could spend the remainder of her life in prison.
