Missing Girl Found

18 years ago,1991, whilst walking  to the bus stop outside her Lake Tahoe home Jaycee Lee Dugard, aged 11 at the time, was abducted. Apparently a car pulled up beside Jaycee and a man grabbed her.

Sometime this week a lady walked into a police station saying she had been abducted 18 years ago and claiming to be Jaycee Lee Dugard.  Police say they think she is telling the truth, however to be sure DNA tests are being carried out. 

Two people are now said to be in custody, US reports say.

Californian police are going to hold a news conference later on Thursday, at which it is  expected that they will publically announce that the lady is Ms Dugard and is alive and well.

 Mr Lovell of the sheriff’s department at El Dorado, California told the Associated Press, “We’re 99% sure it’s her,”also mentioning that her family had been contacted and a meeting was being arranged.

Carl Probyn, Ms Dugard’s stepfather, told ABC News in the US that her family was now sure that she had been found.”I had personally given up hope,” he said, saying that he just wanted to find the people responsible.

Mr Probyn was the only witness of the crime on 10 June, 1991 he says that Jaycee had resisted by kicking and screaming but that had not been enough to stop the abductors from bundling her into a grey car. He also says to have seen a man and a woman in the car.

There had been reported sighting of Ms Dugard but all of them had been false. She had not been seen since that day walking to the bus stop.

Mr Probyn Ended saying ” I hope she’s been well treated this entire 18 years.”
