Due to the rising costs of doing business, the United States Postal Service is pondering on the closure of approximately 3,200 local post offices, leaving many workers unemployed. That is bad news for the majority of us who depend on our post office for regular mail delivery and other services. Living only five minutes away from the local post office, our family would need to alternate offices and drive a few more miles hoping that the second nearest.

On March 21st, the U.S. Postal Service said that it will offer early retirement to 150,000 workers, eliminating 1,400 management jobs and closing six of its eighty district offices. How would you feel if your local post office closed? Not only is the post office thinking of closing some of its offices, but a number of other establishments have also been closed as a result of our current recession. There is a possibility that mail service in the United States will change. Either the media or our local post office will advise us on how to proceed if such a change does occur. Hopefully, it won’t be too drastic and cause anyone any major inconvenience.
