For some reason many folks are looking for a stimulus check. However, there we be no stimulus check sent out to those who received them last year based on the criteria at the time.

It is called: the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Here are some important high points:

Payroll checks increase this spring. The making work pay tax credit will mean $400 to $800 for many Americans. The IRS has issued new withholding tables for employers.

$250 for social security recipients, veterans and railroad retirees. The Economic Recovery Payment will be paid by the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Railroad Retirement Board.

Money back for new vehicle purchases: Taxpayers who buy certain new vehicles in 2009 can deduct the state and local sales taxes they paid.

So if you were waiting for a stimulus check, don’t. Instead, look for an increase in your paycheck. If you need a new withholding table please contact the IRS.

Also keep in mind that even though you may see and increase in your paycheck, it will be offset somewhat because of rising consumer prices (the price of consumer goods and services purchased by households).

It would have been far better if you were allowed to keep all of your money for a whole year.
However, as it stands now everyone will not benefit from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
