Oil and Tar Balls Washing Up in Galveston, Texas Gulf Coast

Update on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Over 2 months ago, the Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank in the Gulf Mexico. This has resulted in an environmental disaster. The oil is still flowing from the damaged well in the ocean floor, causing the biggest spill in American history.
Rumors have been circulating for a few weeks, regarding tar balls washing ashore in Texas. This has officially been confirmed by “authorities”. If there had not already been claims of tar balls off the coast of Texas, previous to hurricane Alex, it could be concluded that the storm helped pushed the oil on shore. But this is not the case. This was happening before Alex blew through the Gulf last week.
Unfortunately, from what I am reading, the officials on the Texas Gulf shores are in a bit of denial. First, they had the tar balls tested before they would admit that they were from the Deepwater Horizon spill site. Not only that, I have read that they are testing tar balls at each new location on the Texas coast, before declaring that they are from the BP spill.
Then, Coast Guard officials claimed that the oil and tar balls found on the Texas Gulf coast may have “hitched” a ride with a boat. Then they admitted that there would be no way of knowing that, for sure. Wow. I wish they would use those crazy imaginations of theirs to figure out how to stop the oil from flowing!
Joe Jaworski, mayor of Galveston, sounds just as hallucinatory as BP and the Coast Guard. He thinks the tar balls are nothing to get worked up about. He thinks it is probably not a signal that more oil is on the way. He stated that it was no big deal and that you could go up and down the beaches, all day long, and clean up it up. No biggie. What does he think about the oil getting into inland waterways? Not much concern about that either, but he did admit that if that does happen he didn’t know if they would be able to “pick it up easily”. Picking up oil out of wetlands? Are you serious? This kind of thing would normally make me laugh. But there is nothing funny about the idiocy in this situation.
