Queens Teacher Arrested

A 27 year old Queens social studies teacher, Melissa Weber, was arrested due to a romantic relationship with a fourteen year old student. According to the New York Daily News, Weber and the boy’s relationship went on from April 13th to May 14. In this time they met up to seven times for sexual relations. The two also talked often through text messaging and phone calls.

They were caught red handed when the boy’s mother, according to The New York Times, went through the boys phone and found the proof needed to get Weber in trouble after she heard the rumors. The mother took the boy to the police station to report Weber. Weber now sits in jail where, according to The New York Times, could face up to seven years in jail. Weber, according to The New York Post, claims the boy made advances at her and she told him to stop. However, the text messages are very damaging to her case.
