Crooks in the midlands have been duped by cunning cops in an attempt to get "missing" criminals behind bars.

It’s idea is ripped straight from 80’s Al Pacino movie Sea Of Love, it’s goal to get as many criminals as they could in a short period of time.

Derbyshire (UK) police were so sick and tired of having missing criminals on their books that they went for a different tactic. All the missing criminals on their books that had a passion for alcohol, were issued a letter (sent to their relatives) in which it stated that if they engaged in some market research, they would receive a free crate of beer. The letters addressed to the missing criminals, were well received and 19 of the 40 letters sent received a response.

The dodgy crooks completed the survey and were asked to supply an address, telephone number, and other identifying details to receive their crate of beer, they were also told that they would need to be in the property to receive the goods. Of course when the beer showed up, it was escorted by undercover police who arrested and took the criminals in custody.

All those arrested were either wanted for crimes, or had ran off while on bail, the criminals had a whole range of offenses under their belts from robbery to sexual offences.
