US President Tells Schoolkids Gandhi is His Real Hero

Given a chance, US president Barack Obama would like to have dinner with his”real hero” Mahatma Gandhi, even though the apostle of peace did not eat a lot.

Obama’s response came to a question from a ninth grade student at the Wakefield High School in  Arlington,Virginia,who asked him if he could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

“Dinner with anyone dead or alive? Well, you know that’s a pretty big list ,”Obama said amid laughter. The next moment he was serious.

“I think that it might be Gandhi, who is real hero of mine,” Obama said,adding that “it would probably be a really small meal because he (Gandhi) didn’t eat a lot”.

He said Gandhi is someone who has inspired people across the world for the past several generations. “He is somebody whom I find a lot of inspiration in. He inspired Dr (Martin Luther)king, so if it hadn’t been for the non-violent movement in India, you might not have seen the same non-violent movement for civil rights here in the united states.”

Gandhi , he said , ended up changing the world  just by power of his ethics. “I am always interested in people who are able to bring about change, not through violence, not through money, but through the force  of their personality and their ethical and moral stances . That is somebody that I would love to sit down and talk to”.

Why Obama telling about his inspiration to the students ?

In my opinion there are two reasons :-

First reason -

Obama telling this because  a student ask a question  that “who he would like to have dinner with ” .But in my opinion why he tell this because he really follows “Gandhi”.   What a great person he was , what he has done in his throughout life for others it is not a very easy job to do. So Obama likes to tell about him(Gandhi).

Second reason-

Obama knows  very well that these student are going to become the future of the united states,so tell them right things to do starting from this age. These are the students , going to decide  the future of the country. Obama wanted to show the right path to it’s  future citizens which is a good thing to do. Like every parents he has done .
