The winter weather is once more upon us. Lost work, no school and treacherous travel. Isn’t spring right around the corner?

I took this picture of my Kitten watching the squirrel on our deck.
Ya it is happening again, lost work, no school, horrible roads and tens of thousands without electricity. With the new storm barreling into the North East this is what we have to look forward to.
Once more this season we all are having another snow day. I have a half hour commute each morning and evening but with the snow falling outside and road warnings from the news I have decided not to risk my life to travel.
This storm has already caused at least nineteen deaths, tons of accidents, and tons of people without any power. Canceled or delayed flights and yes I am waiting for my partners return from Spain today. He is in flight as we speak but when he gets to JFK who knows if he will make it home today. I truly have not seen weather like this for years here.
The last storm that came in like a lion dropped over a foot of snow. This was a couple weeks ago, the day I came back from Mississippi. The landing in Boston was like none I had ever witnessed as we landed and with my sitting along with my coat over my head crying my eyes out for fear I was not going to make it. They must have truly thought I had gone crazy. The weather has defiantly changed this year and is literally dumping on us.
The Highway Departments cant keep up with the one to two inch snow fall an hour. In some places in New Hampshire today the sky will open up and drop over twenty inches of the cold slippery stuff before it turns to freezing rain. That messy stuff is worse to drive in than any amount of snow.
Ya I live in the wrong part of the world. When I was young I loved it! I skied all the time and loved the Winter months. I even named my daughter Winter, but now that I am getting older I cant stand the cold, the snow, or the ice. I hate to go out at 6 AM and clean my van off before the commute into work.
If moving to a warm part of the world was easy to do I would be living on some island that was a constant eighty two degrees year round and my daughter’s name would not have been Winter.
Maybe I should have named her Summer…

Hi Linda lovely article Love the photo
You are getting the snow that has dumped on us. I am in Michigan and the Great Lakes is like a snow making machine. At the moment, we have close to two feet of snow on the ground (from several storms) with drifts much higher. So far this winter, the temperature has been as low as -18 (farenheit) and wind chills as low as -30. We’re kind of used to it in Michigan, but I am with you, I want Spring.
I loved your article. I am so glad I live in a more temperate climate. We don’t have much snow on the south coast of England, even though it has been cold this year and that get the arthritis going.

Great photo.
Brrr your cat is in the right place! Thanks for sharing but you can keep it!
I love that you named your daughter Winter. I always thought that was a beautiful name.I’m not too friendly with the cold either.
It’s been pretty much a winter wonder land around here (in Pennsylvania). Schools were closed today, which is both good and bad for me. Though I hate shoveling the driveway, this is my favorite season. Good article.
i love reading this article, the picture is really cute, the cat, the squirrel and the snow!
nice article. you vividly described your current situation, guess we are more lucky that we don’t experienced snow in country.. nice photo as well. Just, stay calm, and never to forget to say a prayer,
I get a lot of snow here in New Jersey too. When it’s not snowing, it’s cold. BTW, nice pic.
No snow here in Florida, but I miss it. Although, I can’t handle it when it’s 50 here, so I think you may need to keep it.lol
I am liking snow now!Not so much in the UK at the moment.
i would like to experience the cold weather there, lol, thanks
great article and great presentation . We are the same where I live and 30 cm forecast for tomorrow, joy, joy .
Very well-done. We have no winter here, so I’d like to experience it even just once too.
I give thanks that I don’t live in your part of the country. I think it’s cold when it reaches 32 degrees. Our winters are balmy for the most part but we do get freezing weather.
It sure looks cold! I have never experience Winter, I guess I am lucky
as I am allergic to cold.
I know what you mean. I grew up amidst real winters and loved them and now that I am a bit (well a bit, bit) older, even though I live in a relatively moderate climate–nothing like what you’re going through!–I have learned to really hate the cold.
But I still miss the fun I had in the snow when I was a kid….

Blessings.

It’s in the 70’s here in Florida ;-0
Winter is really a beautiful name even if you hate the winter cold. I have never experienced winter yet, but I don’t think I want to after reading this well-written article. Brrrr… Nice pic, too.
Good article, and yes winter is depressing as you get older. Seems we have had more than our share of it this year. I’m ready for spring. Well done.
