86 year old Eunice Workman was reported missing 7 years ago and the case had remained unsolved.

Oakland California police are investigating the death of Mrs Workman and are also looking into why it took so long to locate her remains.l The elderly woman had been living at the North Oakland home for about 10 years when she was reported missing In December 2002. Her fully clothed decomposed body was found under a pile of debris at her home in March of 2009. The residence, on the 700 block of 47th Street, was said to be  filled from floor to ceiling with hoarded belongings, and had remained virtually untouched for seven years.

Workmen discovered the human remains when they began to clean out the debris in the house. The family was  going to put the house on the market for saleThe police speculate that it is possible that the pile of debris fell on the 77 year old woman trapping her underneath it in the upstairs bedroom where her body was found.

Neighbors said that a young relative and his friends were using the house for what they believe was a drug house at the time the woman went missing.

Police and the Health Department received numerous calls from neighbors reporting the condition of the property as well as a strong odor a short time  after the woman went missing.   Those calls are noted in an Oakland law enforcement database, as were reports that squatterswere living in the house. There was apparently no actions taken by the Oakland police in regards to the complaints.

The case is still inder investigation.  The police department are also investigating as to why no action was taken when the neighbors called in complaints about the condition and activities at the home of Eunice Workman.
