Julianne Hough Says She Regrets Using Blackface Amid ‘Activist’ Backlash

Julianne Hough‘s blackface rumor is resurfacing … some 8 years later on as she encounters brand-new objection over her role on a new CBS reality show that has her evaluating genuine protestors.

The professional dancer and actor talked about the reaction Tuesday, stating many individuals are recently realising she put on blackface in 2013 when she spruced up as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren from “Orange is the New Black” for Halloween.

She stated, “Wearing black face was a bad decision based upon my very own white privilege and my very own white body prejudice that hurt individuals and is something I am sorry for doing to this particular day.”

The renewed anger comes from Julianne’s role– together with Usher and Priyanka Chopra Jonas— for a brand-new reality series, premiering the following month, where she judges 6 protestors contending to accentuate their reasons.

The show was pounded as tone-deaf … and Julianne dealt with the problems directly. She claimed, “I heard you state that the show was performative, advertised pseudo-activisim over actual advocacy, really felt tone-deaf, like Black Mirror, The Hunger Games, which the hosts weren’t certified to evaluate advocacy since we are celebs and not protestors.”

Julianne stated that with some individuals just currently discovering her blackface rumor … it “just rubbed more salt in the wound.”

She confesses she’s NOT a lobbyist, and concurs she’s not certified to function as a judge … yet stated she was delighted to do the show due to the fact that she desired “to be component of something that highlights, and is focused around sharing lobbyists’ work with a bigger system.”
