Intereseted in the latest news about the sequel to the 2017 action comedy? You’ll be happy to know that the blockbuster movie, which was scheduled to be released in August has been brough forward to the summer.
The decision to shift the date of the Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds action flick was made because the latter has a Disney movie (Free Guy) coming out around the same period.
This has led Liongates to reschedule the release of the much awaited sequel that also features Salma Hayek.
The new release date for the movie is June 16.
The president of world-wide distribution at Lionsgate, Ron Schwartz made the announcement on monday. With the new release schedule, the movie will now come out on the same opening weekend as the Edgar Wright documentary, The Sparks Brothers.
It also gets released prior to the June 25 opening weekend for Universal’s F9.
In the Announcement, Schwartz stated “This is the kind of summer action film that delivers even more comedy and more thrilling action than the first film – and it’s perfect for fans new to the franchise as well. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is what summer moviegoing is all about – great, crowd-pleasing entertainment.”
