A teacher at a Frankfort junior high school has been arrested and charged for the grooming of a child and indecent solicitation, the Will County sheriff’s office confirmed.
Jack Mecher, 51, faces one count of grooming as well as two counts of indecent solicitation of a minor, according to information released by the County police.
The mother of one of the suspect’s students had earlier reported on September 9 that Mecher was exchanging text messages of a sexual nature with her daughter, police claimed. She explained to detectives that she became aware of Mecher’s behavior when her daughter told her about the inappropriate conversations and relationship going on in his Summit Hill Junior High School classroom.
According to news release from the police department, the allegation led to a thorough investigation by the detectives of the depatment. The child involved was also interviewed by a forensic staff from the Will County Child Advocacy Center.
Mecher was arrested on Tuesday, September 22, before his arrival at the school. He has a bond of $250,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 23.
