Unemployment Rates Drop by a relative 0.5% in Ohio

Relative to the numbers obtained in August, unemployment rates decreased in Ohio September, according to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Service.

The ODJFS says while the unemployment rate for August was 8.9%, it dropped to 8.4% in September. There were 472, 000 unemployed workers in September as opposed to a total of 510,000 in August.

Over the month, the nonagricultural wage and salary employment in Ohio added 41,500 bringing the number to 5,188,200 in September from 5,146,700 in August 2020.

Meanwhile, there has been an increasing number of unemployed in the past 12 months, adding 232, 000 to the existing 240, 000.

Relatively, in September there is an increase from 4.1% unemployment rates in September 2019.
